ACHPER Board Member

Dr lisahunter, from Monash University, brings four decades of ACHPER involvement spanning teaching, leadership and research. Their work champions equity, diversity and ecosocial justice in HPE, strengthening research partnerships, First Peoples-led initiatives, and collaboration across education and community sectors.

Dr lisahunter champions equitable, inclusive and socially just health and physical education, empowering young people through movement, wellbeing and learning while advancing research, teacher education and sustainable practices that support thriving communities.

Dr lisahunter (they/them/it) works at Monash University in Boon Wurrung/ Bunurong Country, Victoria, They have been engaged with ACHPER since 1983 (Qld), beginning as a preservice volunteer and continuing through teaching, leadership, and research across Australia and internationally. Their work spans school teaching, curriculum leadership, and academic research, including postgraduate study investigating national curriculum implementation (Masters in Education, Deakin University) and doctoral research in  student transitions in HPE (University Queensland). Across its career, lisahunter has advanced teacher-as-researcher practices, led professional learning, and contributed to ACHPER through workshops, conference presentations, and research dissemination. Their scholarship and teaching in HPE and teacher education centre equity, diversity, and ecosocial justice, challenging the field to be more inclusive and responsive to young people and the professional commitments to teaching and learning. As a Board member, they plan to strengthen ACHPER research partnerships, chair the Academic Advisory group, support First Peoples-led work and settler literacies, and deepen collaboration between tertiary institutions, schools, and community organisations. lisahunter’s vision is for educational, equitable, safe, challenging, inclusive and responsive HPE enhancing health, education, and movement outcomes for all young people and those working towards these outcomes.
