Dr Joe Scott is a Senior Lecturer in Health and Physical Education at University of the Sunshine Coast. His research focuses on designing and implementing innovative school and community strategies that empower young people to lead healthy, active lifestyles and reduce chronic disease risk.
Through innovation in education and practices, I want to help young Australians develop a love for being physically active and empower them to lead healthy and active lifestyles.
Doctor Joe Scott is nationally recognised as a leader in the HPE discipline. He is a Senior Lecturer and lead of secondary Health and Physical Education (HPE) at the University of Sunshine Coast (UniSC). He is a registered teacher and Fellow of the United Kingdom Higher Education Academy (HEA). He has a long history with ACHPER holding various state level board and President roles and continues as a member of ACHPER QLD and the national board member of the ACHPER Health promoting Schools Committee.
Joe is a former secondary HPE teacher, representative sports player and coach. He is now a Senior Lecturer in HPE at a tertiary institution (UniSC) and is involved in various national level HPE related research projects and has received over a million dollars in research funding. He is uniquely placed to make large scale impact on the HPE discipline and future HPE teachers’ philosophies and practices and their students.
Joe is a registered Health and Physical Education teacher. He holds two bachelor’s degrees (BTchg and BHPE), a PhD, and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA)
Dr lisahunter, from Monash University, brings four decades of ACHPER involvement spanning teaching, leadership and research. Their work champions equity, diversity and ecosocial justice in HPE, strengthening research partnerships, First Peoples-led initiatives, and collaboration across education and community sectors.
Hugh is a Senior Lecturer in Health and Physical Education at Queensland University of Technology, with extensive experience in teacher education, curriculum development, assessment moderation and school leadership. An ACHPER Fellow, he serves on state and national committees advancing health and physical education.
As Chair of the Health Promoting Schools Committee, Melisa leads ACHPER’s engagement in health education. Drawing on her research, she understands educators’ challenges and aims to develop practical strategies that support effective health-promoting practices without increasing teacher workload
As CEO of Foodcore, Megan drives initiatives that leverage the power of nutrition to improve wellbeing, strengthen communities, and create healthier food environments. She is committed to increasing access to nutritious food and building the skills and confidence to prepare it for group both big and small, as well as families.
Sally’s day to day is to reduce the incidence of skin cancer in Australia, working in the pillars of education, advocacy and research.
